
Regional Chapters can be formed, subject to the approval of the Board of Directors, to encourage regional co-operation and to stimulate geographical interest and activities within the cargo handling industry. All participants of a Regional Chapter, if not an existing member, must become a member of ICHCA International and Regional Chapters shall be governed in accordance with the Articles of Association of ICHCA International Limited.
ICHCA International Limited offers assistance with the initial setting up of Regional Chapters and will give assistance with addressing solutions to identified areas of need or interest within the scope of cargo handling.
The Canarias / Africa Regional Chapter (CARC) was established following an exploratory meeting held in Las Palmas in October 2005, at which a number of representatives from organisations in Las Palmas attended, along with representatives from many African ports. It was agreed that the Port of Las Palmas would act as the central co-ordinator, to organise activities such as training seminars and meetings on various aspect identified by the participants.
The last meeting of the Canarias / Africa Regional Chapter (CARC 3) was be held on the 10 December 2007 in Accra. The theme of the meeting was " Looking Ahead " The next meeting of the chapter will be held on the 27th and 28 October 2008 in Cotonou, Benin. The Malaysian Regional Chapter (MARC) has now been formed and the first meeting was held in November 2007 in Kuala Lumpur. The same process as CARC was taken to form this Regional Chapter. The Federation of Malaysian Freight Forwarders is the central co-ordinating organisation. The second meeting and seminar "Maritime Law" was held in May 2008 in Kuala Lumpur. The next meeting is provisionally scheduled for 20/21 November 2008 in Malaysia.
MARC members will be given their own dedicated, secure area of this website.
